Recruitment: attracting and shortlisting the right candidates
What does the term mean? How is it different from 'selection'?... And what do you need to do to effectively recruit then shortlist the right candidates?
Selection: getting the right person, the right way
Act in haste and repent at leisure. A poor selection decision can cost serious time and money to put right - so here's how to avoid that outcome...
Post-selection: the continuing story...
OK - you've appointed your candidate - now what? Crucial processes include candidate feedback, action planning, induction and probation...
Interviewer skills

Beyond interviews: how to run assessment centres..
What to include, and how to prepare then run an effective set of activities to provide a more complete picture of each candidates skills, behaviours and, potentially, their attitude...
Key contexts to consider...
Meeting legal requirements, preventing selector bias or prejudice, seeking a cultural fit, creating an Employee Value Proposition, and acting to support EDI - they all matter, and are covered in these training courses.

schedule a chatRecruitment Training Activities
The 90-minute workshop provides an overview of the whole process, with a checklist of key steps to take, and handy tips for each stage; the half day programme then builds on this by focusing on key interviewer skills, legal requirements and preventing bias; finally the full day does all of this, then in the afternoon provides a case study that tests the learning acquired by asking the participants to design then run a selection process, providing the opportunity to develop and test key knowledge and skills learned earlier.
Never 'death by powerpoint'
We always provide a variety of learning approaches in each of our workshops.
Each workshop typically includes learning input from the trainer, supported by a range of mixed media, interactive elements, discussion and group work. Most workshops also include case work and practical skill-development activities to apply the learning, with more time dedicated to this in the longer courses.
'Want more?' resource pack
In addition to providing a copy of any slide deck, we always provide a ‘want more’ section, of curated resources including book summaries, podcasts, downloads and articles.
The course was over too quickly, and had definitely whetted my appetite. The ‘want more’ section was a brilliant additional support, allowing me to explore the topic further.
What are the benefits of recruitment and interview training?
Recruitment Courses UK: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the right talent?
Firstly. define what you are looking for - the word 'talent' won't be enough. Also decide do you want that talent to 'hit the ground running', or will the talent be raw (and therefore cheaper to purchase) but need development? And make sure any talent search is inclusive, so any search looks inside the organisation as well as beyond.
What's the difference between recruitment & selection?
Recruitment is the search for suitable candidates; this includes being really clear about the offer you are making, and the kind of candidates you want; selection is then about making the right choice from the candidates you have 'recruited'
What should I concentrate on most, with limited resources?
Having competent staff managing every stage of the process. The two main costs in the process are appointing the wrong person, and failing to comply with the law. These risks can best be mitigated by having competent staff who know what to do, and are skilled at doing it.
Which of your recruitment courses would be the best to sign up for?
That depends. The bite-size course would be excellent for an overview of the process, and key points to get right; the half day would be best for deeper knowledge of the law, unconscious bias, and interviewer skills. The full day covers all the above, then provides an opportunity to put this knowledge and skill set to the test.
