Time Management & Prioritising Workshop Content
Managing time better
The truth is - you can't. Time is a given, it looks after itself. We can only manage what we do with the time available. But we talk as if we can manage time - and that has several dangerous consequences.
Managing my own time
How well do you use your own time? How reliable is your 'to do' list? Are you a perfectionist, or a procrastinator? How good are your plans or schedules - if you have them...? Are you personally effective - or just busy?
Managing my time with others
How well do you manage interruptions? How good are you at saying 'no' and setting clear boundaries? Do you find it difficult to ask for help?
Managing priorities
You don't manage time - you manage what you do with it - and that means deciding and sticking to your priorities. So - what's a priority - and what isn't? And what if everything is a priority?!
Urgent, important, deadlines & durations...
Find out about the 3 laws of urgency, and why what we say is important clearly isn't.... Then recognise and be aware of the significant difference between a deadline and a duration, and which really determines quality.

The shortest course focuses on the myth of time management, and makes the case for how we spend our time that counts; the half day workshop looks at time management from the perspectives of self and others, and the full day course looks at specific time management tips and techniques for each participant to build into their personal action plan.
Never 'death by powerpoint'
We always provide a variety of learning approaches in each of our workshops.
Each workshop typically includes learning input from the trainer, supported by a range of mixed media, interactive elements, discussion and group work. Most workshops also include case work and practical skill-development activities to apply the learning, with more time dedicated to this in the longer courses.
'Want more?' resource pack
In addition to providing a copy of any slide deck, we always provide a ‘want more’ section, of curated resources including book summaries, podcasts, downloads and articles.
The course was over too quickly, and had definitely whetted my appetite. The ‘want more’ section was a brilliant additional support, allowing me to explore the topic further.

Time Management & Prioritising Frequently Asked Quesitons
Isn't there a difference between home and work?
A good point. Most people feel they have more control of time at home than at work; but even if the allocation of time is more out of your control at work, you still decided how well you use that time. For example, you may have to turn up at a meeting - but how efficiently do you spend that time once you are there?
Surely it's the case that there simply aren't enough hours in the day?
That's true - but then it makes even more sense to be as productive with that time as you can be, so there is minimum waste...
What's the single best tip you can give for time management?
Different tips will be more or less appropriate depending on the specific issue or problem. For example tips for a perfectionist will be different from tips from someone who keeps putting a task off...
Which of these courses should I take (as a priority!)?
It depends on what issues you want to address. The longer the course, the more options you will get, so our advice would be to attend the one that lasts longest, for maximum breadth and depth of coverage.
