Interpersonal Communication Skills (IPS) Workshop Content
What are we talking about?
Essentially these 5 key skills: listening, recapping, questioning, body language, and rapport.
Listening skills
A toolkit of skills and techniques to help you listen actively, and make it clear to others that you are listening to them.
Recap: how to be impressive...
The absolute best way of proving that you have been listening - these courses will show you how to do it - reliably and with confidence.
Questioning skills
"What's the colour of your front door?" Whatever you were thinking, I bet you've now answered that question! These courses will demonstrate a range of question types, and prove just how powerful and important questions are.
Body language
A look at the various ways we communicate and express ourselves (often unintentionally) through body language... and how to do it positively.
Rapport
Developing good rapport is essential to starting and maintaining a positive relationship. This pod offers several ways to do it...

The three course options are essentially progressive; the short 90-minute course introduces the 5 key skills set, and shows the difference they can make; the half day course ensures everyone can demonstrate those skills; and the full day course then provides the opportunity for plenty of scenario-based practice.
Never 'death by powerpoint'
We always provide a variety of learning approaches in each of our workshops.
Each workshop typically includes learning input from the trainer, supported by a range of mixed media, interactive elements, discussion and group work. Most workshops also include case work and practical skill-development activities to apply the learning, with more time dedicated to this in the longer courses.
'Want more?' resource pack
In addition to providing a copy of any slide deck, we always provide a ‘want more’ section, of curated resources including book summaries, podcasts, downloads and articles.
My attention can easily wander, but this was never the case here, largely due to the variety of learning approaches used. Never a dull moment!

What are the benefits of IPS training?
Communication Skills Workshop Frequently Asked Quesitons
Can anyone improve their communication skills?
Yes - by understanding how communication works - by what is said and how. Knowing how the little things - key words, phrases and tone of voice - can make a big difference.
How do I know how effective I am as a communicator?
A good question! Two obvious answers are by the response you get, or by someone's direct feedback. But there are other ways, and these courses will let you know what they are.
What's the first thing to do to be a good communicator?
We'd probably say listen; and show and prove you are listening. Did you know there are 6 levels of listening - where each shows the degree to which you have invested in listening?
How do I choose the best communication course?
If it's practice with feedback that's wanted, then the full day is the best option; if need to know more about the small differences that language and choice of words or tone can make, then the half day will provide that; if you simply want an overview, and knowledge of the key skill set, then the 90-minute option may be all you need at this stage.
